The addition of a new puppy or kitten to your home can be an incredibly exciting time. This new energetic family member will bring out the best in all those around them.
While is an exciting time for you and your family it is important to remember that your new furry friend will be in need of healthcare that is critical for not only the first year of their life but also to help set them up for lifelong health.
Your vet will develop a custom health care plan to meet your pet's specific needs during their first year, and provide you with plenty of support and guidance along the way!
Our vets recommend that you bring your new puppy in for their initial visit when they are approximately six weeks of age and kittens should see us when they are around eight weeks of age.
For this initial visit, your vet will perform a routine physical examination, look for signs of any congenital defects, and check for external parasites.
We will also administer deworming medications for roundworms and hookworms, and the first round of puppy or kitten vaccinations in order to provide ongoing protection for your new pet.

Between the ages of 6 and 16 weeks, your new puppy or kitten should visit the vet around 3 or 4 times. These visits allow our vets to assess your pet's overall health and to administer vaccines on schedule.
